Exopanation ,take an example of round seeds

R represents round ( dominant)

and ,r = wrinkled .( Recessive)

So homozygous means both alleles are similar eg- RR and rr.

Heterozygous means both are different for the same trait that is Rr.

Now for a plant to be round in the gene atleast one allele shpuld be dominant that is R .

So homozygous RR will appear round and Rr ( heterozygous) will also appear round . As one allele R is dominant.

Now for recessive trait to be expresed , the genotype must be homozygous that is rr.

Genotype refers to the genetic constitution. That is the gene pair . Whethet its homoxygous round RR ,or heterozygoud round Rr, or homozygous wrinlked rr.

Now phenotype is the trait which is physically expressed or visible to the eye so the plant seed will be Round in two cases RR genotype and Rr genotype .

The plant seed phenotype is wrinlked only in one case that is rr genotype as recessive alleles need to be in a pairto be expressed .
