The haploid human genome is 3 X 109 nucleotides long, but it is divided into 23 chromosomes so each chromosome averages 1.3 X 108 nucleotides. Here, DNA is replicated at 50 nucleotides / second. b. How long (in hours) will it take to copy a human chromosome if there is but one origin? Remember replication is still bi-directional.
