Answer #1

The clinic is considering adopting a queue priority system that is determined by the time of entry into the system at the receptionist. This will ensure that the patients are prioritized on the basis of the actual time at which they reach the clinic. However, if the same is not informed to the patients, they will think that the patients are being sent to the physician based on some sort of favouritism or bias. They will think that the FCFS system is being violated and may show resentment to the same.

To resolve the situation, following can be done:

  • Ensure transparency in the process by placing a digital monitor portraying the patient list based on priority
  • Information placards and bulletins can be placed across the clinic to make the patients aware about the prevalent system
