Below is the answer related to question 1.

In first pass, it resolves all forward labels and generate machine instructions and enter addresses in symbol and in second pass, it synthesizes the target using addresses generated in the symbol table.

So, option a is correct i.e., "to determine the addresses of labels in order to calculate the correct offset for PC relative memory and branch instruction"
