a) Net torque about center of mass

counterclockwise torque is positive and clockwise torque is negative.

so,

\tau = 43 * sin 35 * 0.75 + 29 * 0.75

\tau = 40.24 N.m  

counterclockwise

b) \tau = I\alpha

so,

I = 1/12 * 15 * 1.52

I = 2.8125 Kg.m2

so,

\alpha = 40.24 /2.8125

\alpha = 14.3 rad/sec2
