State Newton’s laws of motion. I drive a car that has 200 hp (horsepower) engine and weighs 500 pounds. As I start from rest, I feel a jerk backwards, as I stop, I fall forwards, when the car moves at constant speed, I feel nothing. Explain how Newton’s laws of motion apply to each stage (all of them apply in this example, don’t forget any or you will lose points).

Answer #1

Solution :

The first law of motion = an object in state of rest or in motion will not change its state until compelled by external force. Means a body remains at rest until an external force does not change its state of rest similarly a body does not change its state of motion until compelled to do so by external force. This tendency of the body is called inertia. So the law is called law of inertia.

2. The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the external applied force and change takes place in the direction of the force .

F = dP/dt = Ma

Here a acceleration .

3. Every action has equal an opposite reaction .

It means that forces are found in pairs . No any force can exist alone. How ever this pair of forces act on two different objects and act on the same time. . A a person pushes a car with any force F then car also applies same force on the person.

When we start the car the engine of the car applies the force on the car not on our body . As our lower body part is in the contact with the car so with the car it comes in motion but upper body part due to inertia of rest wants to remain in rest hence we get pushed backwards as lower part moves forward and upper part not.

While the car is moving with constant velocity net force is zero hence no acceleration so our body is in motion with the car no net forces no jerk.

But when brakes are applied the car comes into rest as well as our lower body which is in contact with the car but the upper part which is not in contact wants to travel with the same speed hence we get pushed forward.

Acceleration of the car is caused by the force hence second law. While the car when moving with constant speed the net force is zero as car engine try to accelerate the car but friction between the road and tyre tries to stops the car as car is going with constant velocity so both of them get equals and cancel each other.

    Please read the article and answer about questions. You and the Law Business and law are inseparable. For B-Money, the two predictably merged when he was negotiat- ing a deal for his tracks. At other times, the merger is unpredictable, like when your business faces an unexpected auto accident, product recall, or government regulation change. In either type of situation, when business owners know the law, they can better protect themselves and sometimes even avoid the problems completely. This chapter...
