Henry J Kaiser was involved in large construction projects such as civic centers and dams in real estate. He established the Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonprofit, non-partisan, charitable organization. Kaiser was involved in building civic centers, roads, and schools. He was part of the consortium that constructed the Hoover Dam and Grand Coulee Dam. Kaiser is also noted for advancing medicine with the development and construction of hospitals, medical centers and medical schools. His combination of entrepreneurship, perseverance, and compassion made him the embodiment of the American spirit. He created the Kaiser Permanente, the first health maintenance organization. He successfully directed the construction of thousands of Liberty ships which helped the U.S. Navy claim victory at sea for America and her Allies. He pioneered shipbuilding techniques that not only allowed him to build ships at unprecedented rates, but he also spurred the whole shipbuilding industry to do the same.
