write an essay on cause and effect on why do so many student attemp to cheat
There are a lot of psychological reasons as to why a student would want to cheat. Let me explain to you some of the causes and effects in which a student is forced to cheat or think cheating is better than earning the marks through hard work and understanding.
1) The students are not educated based on their inborn talent and are grouped very vaguely and taught everything. Some of the subjects taught in school are very general and a subject which one student easily understands is hard for another student to comprehend. But they are brought up in an education system where marks are everything. They have to satisfy their parents and teachers and that can only be done by getting a high score in an examination.
2) Peer-pressure plays an important role in a student choosing to cheat. A student who finds a particular subject hard to understand fears to ask questions to the teacher in the fear of being judged as stupid, the student cannot ask his friends in the fear of getting ridiculed. He/she fears to ask his/her parents because they might think that he/she is not paying attention in class. Hence he/she is pressurized and resorts to cheating as the only option.
3) The student feels a sense of pride in achieving a victorious feeling after successfully cheating in an exam without getting caught. That gives them a sense of power over the teacher or invigilator and the other students and heals their hurt ego of not understanding the subject in the first place. The appreciation they receive at home and by the teachers for scoring good marks overpowers their guilt of cheating in the examination making it even more addicting.
