This is an example of Inferential statistics. This is because in this example the researcher is trying to make predictions using the data obtained from the survey that has been conducted. In the case of inferential statists, a sample is taken out of a population that is assumed to be representing the population, then some predictions are made about the population using the data that we have about the sample.
