Out of these two questions I just need the answer for one

I just need the answer for one of the following 2 question 1) Historians have been unable to reach a consensus as to the actual size of the Native American population in the Americas before the arrival of the Europeans. Discuss why they disagree. 2) In your opinion, is knowing how many Native peoples resided in the Americas important, or should historians be addressing other issues? Explain your position.

Answer 1

America is a vast country which was ruled by the native Americans for thousands of years. They occupied most part of the land and lived in small communities in different parts of the country. However, when white Americans came to America, they were able to occupy the areas that were close to the coasts. Thus, their estimation was not very accurate, besides, there were different rulers such as, the British, French, Spanish etc. who made their own estimations. Nevertheless, when the white settlers moved in-lands, they kept eliminating the native Americans thus, it became difficult to come to a correct estimation.

It’s really important to get an accurate or near accurate number because a race that kept the country in its natural state and protected it for years should get its due respect. They should be treated equally and the white people should know the impact and implications of their actions on the native Americans. Knowing the numbers in the past and present would help people know the reasons for their extinction not only in terms of the numbers but also in terms of the culture, values and customs.
