ANSWER-4) When it comes to my personal opinion on politics, I am concerned about social security, medical reform, war, and immigrant policy. Due to change in demographics, the U.S. entitlements like Social Security and Medicare system will face financial challenges in the near future. The increasing life expectancies and declining fertility rates are causing the U.S. population to age. As a result, the Social Security system is experiencing a declining worker-to-beneficiary ratio, which will further decline to nearly 2.1 in 2040 (the year when the Social Security trust fund is projected to be exhausted). As health insurance becomes more expensive to provide and employers can deny it part-time, temporary and seasonal workers, thus employers hire more temporary and part-time workers in lieu of full time workers as a method to economize on insurance expenditure. It makes me worried on my job security. The current immigration system in the United States is broken: Immigrant workers are exploited, Families are separated, people die trying to cross the border, and there exists rampant discrimination against immigrants. It is vital that we should treat newcomers that reflect the values of equality and fairness that define the United States as a nation.
