a) if there is defective LDL receptor it means there is a high amount of cholesterol in the blood which can cause familial hypercholesterolemia so for this therapeutic drugs like pcsk9 inhibitors and simvastatin are given. these are cholesterol-lowering therapies. The PCSK9 inhibitor blocks the PCSK9 enzyme, so more LDL receptors available to remove LDL from the blood, which decreases in LDL blood levels.

b) if a person has very high HMGCoA reductase activity then statins are inhibitors of HMG CoA reductase which control HMG-CoA reductase activity. lovastatin is potential statins used for this approach.
