Explanation
The spinothalamic tract is one of the example of ascending pathway from the spinal cord. It carries sensory responses like pain, crude touch, temperature, pressure to the thalamus.
The spinothalamic tract consists of two components :They are anterior spinothalamic and lateral spinothalamic tract. They crosses (decussates) at the level of spinal cord thus the thalamus receives information from the contralateral side of the body. They arises at the level of spinal cord, passes through medulla, midbrain and reaches finally to thalamus.
