Minimal Medium Supplemented with- No supplement IGP Anthranilic acid Indole Tryptophan trp8 trp2 trp3 trpl Based on these results, you can conclude that the trp3 strain has a mutation in the gene that encodes the enzyme that converts Select one a, indole to anthranilic acid b, IGP to anthranilic acid indole to IGP d anthranilic acid to indole e IGP to indole Check

Answer #1

The correct answer is option e. IGP to indole.

From the above table, we can conclude the correct pathway would be

Anthranilic acid \rightarrow IGP\rightarrow Indole\rightarrow Tryptophan

Trp8 mutant has a mutation in the gene encodes for enzyme for the production of Anthranillic acid from minimal medium\

Trp2 mutant has a mutation in the gene encodes for enzyme for the conversion of Anthranillic acid to IGP

Trp3 mutant has a mutation in the gene encodes for enzyme for the conversion of IGP to Indole

Trp1 mutant has a mutation in the gene encodes for enzyme for the conversion of IGP to tryptophan.

By this we can conclude tha trp3 mutant is an auxotrophic mutant for indole. i.e if Indole is supplied to the medium trp3 can grow.

Hello! I need help understanding this question. I would really appreciate it if anybody could help me. thank you! 20. (Problem 16) in the bacterium Escherichia coll, the amino acid tryptophan is synthesized in a multistep pathway, beginning with an organic precursor called chorismate: Chorismate ——Y-Tryptophan 2 3 The numbers denote steps in the pathway, each catalyzed by an enzyme. There are five bacterial genes that encode polypeptides associated with these enzymes, called trpa, trp8, trpc, trp, and trpe. A...

please help with part A and B. 2. A yeast geneticist isolates two different haploid mutant yeast strains, Strain A and Strain B, which cannot grow unless the amino acid leucine is added to the growth media. Wild-type yeast strains can make their own leucine and do not require that it be added to the growth media. The geneticist discovers that each mutant yeast strain contains a single recessive mutation that leads to the observed leucine-requiring phenotype. When she crosses...

2 What is the minimum genotype of a recombinant cell that grew on minimal media supplemented with arginine, methionine and the antibiotic tetracycline but lacking the essential amino acid isoleucine 3 How would you determine if your recombinant cells had also acquired the tryptophan gene from the Hart Complete the following table indicating which of the organisms (F and/or Hfr used in this experiment would be expected to grow on the given media. Unless specified, MMD is just minimal medium...
