Question

Discussion and Application 24. Suppose we wish to answer the following question: A group of 20 students hours studying for an exam. How does the number of hours spent studying affect th that the student will pass the exam? (6 points+ 6 points) a. The best method to use here would be b. If the problem was changed so that pass/fail was replaced with the grade 0-100 then this method would be the best to use: brtween the KNN classifier and KNN regression methods. (10

Answer #1

a) The best method to use here would be logistic regression. Logistic regression will be the appropriate regression analysis to be conducted when the dependent variable is binary. In our case pass and fail may be indicated by 1 and 0 respectively and further analysis can be made.

b) In this scenario, the best method to use will be simple linear regression where the marks can be considered as dependent variable and number of hours spent studying can be taken as independent variable
