Beers law is assumed to be valid in this experiment. Will Beers law apply if we choose to use concentrations in g L-1? Explain your answer. 4. Since you are not working with human blood in this lab, is there any reason to worry about the safe handling of solutions in this lab? Explain your answer.

1. Reference range for albubin concentration in blood is approximately 35 - 50 g/L . Albumin concentration of 60 g/L indicates towards infection, burn or stress in the patient.

2. The volume after mixing will be = 0.20 mL + 2.80 mL = 3.00 mL.

Here Lets take Concentration and volume before mixing as C1 and V1 and after mixing as C2 and V2 then applying concentration formula,

C1V1 = C2V2

C2 = C1V1 / V2

  = (6 g/L x 0.20 mL) / 3.00 mL

= 0.40 g/L.

3. In Beers Law the unit of concentration is generaly taken as mol/L. In case, if the molecular mass of solute is unknown then the concentration is taken as g / 100 mL. So, in order to apply this quantity to Beers law we must convert the units g/L to g/ 100 mL.

4. Nonhuman mammals are frequently infected with various microbial pathogens thus can cause severe and often fatal infection to humans working with it.

Thus while handling the nonhuman blood samle utmost care is required. Use of non-porous protective garments and gloves, eye/face protection, and puncture-resistant containers for the disposal of sharps are highly recommonded.
