Carbohydrates are catabolized by glycolysis, TCA cycle, and energy is produced by oxidative phosphorylation.

Lipids are catabolized by beta-oxidation.

Proteins are catabolized by Proteases. The amino acids produced by the catabolism are converted into various metabolites that feed into the TCA cycle to generate energy.
