Answer #1

Question : High unemployment is socially wasteful. Why?

Answer : Yes it is true that high unemployment is socially wasteful. This is because there will be a loss of valuable resources if job opportunities sufficient for all the people who are willing to work are not been created by the economy. Hence the goods and services that might have been produced if these people who are willing to work are employed are forever lost for the consumers from enjoying it . This loss in production of goods and services is the cost of high unemployment faced by the economy. Thus high unemployment is always socially wasteful.
