Answer #1

P(English Class) = 0.60

P(Statistics class ) = 0.75

P(English class or Statistics class) =0.90

P(English class or Statistics class ) = P(English Class) +P(Statistics class ) -P(English class and Statistics class)

Substitute given values into above addition rule of probability.

=> 0.90 = 0.60 + 0.75 - P(English class and Statistics class)

=> P(English class and Statistics class)=0.45

The probability that a randomly selected student is taking an English class and is not taking a Statistics class)

=0.60-0.45.................P(An B= P(A) - P(AnB) _

=0.15
