1) Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is a chromatography strategy used to isolate non-unpredictable mixtures. Thin-layer chromatography is performed on a sheet of glass, plastic, or aluminium foil, which is covered with a thin layer of adsorbent material,like silica gel, aluminum oxide (alumina), or cellulose. This layer of adsorbent is known as the stationary stage. After the specimen has been connected on the plate, a solvent or solvent mixture (known as the portable stage) is drawn up the plate by means of capillary activity. Since various analytes climb the TLC plate at various rates based on the polarity, partition is achieved.The portable or mobile stage has distinctive properties from the stationary stage.

2) In a TLC the compound with the maximum polarity is usually the lowest point. In the above given question the sample with the highest polarity is the sample 5.

3) The components of the mixture M are samples 1,4 and 5. This can be concluded or confirmed on the basis of identical retention factor or Rf value. The retention factor values of samples 1, 4 and 5 readily match with that of the mixture M. Hence the mixture has samples 1,4 and 5.
