Mycobacterium tuberculosis is an intracellular pathogen that grows within macrophages. Explain how the defense against this pathogen will be organized and what type of cells will be activated to fight the infection. Please include in your answer which MHC will be involved and what will follow after that (meaning what type of T cells will be engaged in the process)

Please look in the image for diagrammatic representation:

Cytotoxic T cells CD8 Tc Plasma Membrane ndogeneous Djantigen > e vesicle С умді босач Proteasome V Peptide sy. ER MHCL. with

Explanation:

First of all, the mycobacteria is digested which is present in the intracellular cytoplasm of antigen presenting cell. This is degraded by the proteasome into peptide chain. Now this peptide chain is transported to the endoplasmic reticulum via TAP protein. This peptide will attach to the MHC 1 in the endoplasmic reticulum. Then this will be transported to the Golgi body through vesicle. Then it will released to the the the outside so that the peptide containing MHC 1 receptor will attach to the plasma membrane. This peptide is recognised by cytotoxic T cells receptor. This leads to kill the antigen presenting cell via cytotoxic effect of Tc cells.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Listeria monocytogenes are both facultative intracellular parasites in humans. These pathogens have the ability to grow and multiply inside phagocytes. Artificial passive immunity against these infections can be achieved only by transferring E rosette forming leukocytes along with their corresponding adherent cells from an immune individual. E-rosette forming cells alone are incapable of effecting this transfer. Transferring E rosette forming leukocytes along with their corresponding adherent cells from a tuberculin skin positive individual will confer passive immunity...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
