What is the integral of a function? How can it be interpreted graphically?
Integral simply means to sum up - At least in lay mans terms. Mathematically, it means a method to find the are enclosed by a curve under itself. Obviously it means to break the are into very small pieces and the adding up. Now this can be between two intersecting curves to give a finite value as answer or it can be between two curves that dont intersect giving infinite as answer. The former is proper integral and the latter is the improper integral. If you are given only one curve, the integration with respect to x gives are under the curve with x axis whereas with respect to y gives area under the curve with y axis.

What is the derivative of a function? How can it be interpreted graphically?
1. Numerical Integration The integral of a function f(x) for a s x S b can be interpreted as the area between the f(x) curve and the x axis, bounded by the limits x- a and x b. If we denote this area by A, then we can write A as A-f(x)dx A sophisticated method to find the area under a curve is to split the area into trapezoidal elements. Each trapezoid is called a panel. 1.2 0.2 1.2 13...

1. Show (graphically) how MC pricing can result in losses for the monopoly.
Using the Multiplier Model, show graphically and explain how the aggregate demand function may shift with these fiscal policies. Please include an explanation of how the multiplier process will affect the results of the fiscal stimulus (think specifically over time) - using a numerical example assuming a marginal propensity to consume equal to 0.5 and a fiscal stimulus equal to 40 billion. According to the model, what is the multiplier and how much would the output increase by? Please include...
A bank's position in options gamma of -80,000. Explain how these numbers can be interpreted. The exchange rate (dollars per euro) is 0.90. What position would you take to make the position delta neutral? After a short period of time, the exchange rate moves to 0.93. Estimate the new delta. What additional trade is necessary to keep the position delta neutral? Assuming the bank did set up a delta-neutral position originally, has it gained or lost money from the exchange-rate...

Using the multiplier model, graphically show how quantitative easing would shift the aggregate demand function (at least two graphs -- money and AD/AS -- and words are necessary here)
