Advantages of moving to terrestrial environment:

- More availability of sunlight and CO2

- Soil nutrients, as they weren't dissolved in water and could be absorbed through the roots

- Lack of predation (at the time when they moved)

Disadvantages:

- Fear of dessication, new problem of transpiration

- Roots had to go deeper to find water, seasonal influence on availability of water

- Dispersion of seeds and gametes

- Lack of a vascular system
