Question 3 (20 marks): Evaluate and Redesigning Application Interfaces you think are Bad Designs Choose any IT garget, an application or a website of your interest. Study and evaluate the interface of this chosen application or website applying the concepts you have learnt in the HCI class. Redesign the interface, detailing things or principles which were not correctly used or were completely missing. Discuss how you would reuse the design principles which were wrongly used and why you added what you think was missing Your report should include both the old and the new website and the documentation for your redesign.

1. Navigation

Website navigation is the centerpiece of each website, responsible for great user experiences. This is why its design shouldn’t be taken lightly. Bad website navigation can render all the content on your site useless for a visitor. This can lead to devastating bounce rates directly affecting your website traffic and how search engines rank it.

Old Website   

* Navigation with many options

* Unimportant links in the primary navigation menu

* Too many submenus

* Different primary Navigation Bar for each page of website

New web site

* Easy to Access options

* Unimortant links are remove from navigation menu

* Fastening the loading time so that it wont test the patience of the user

* Minimized sub menu's

2. Proper use of animation

Animations on the website interface layout make a terrific impact adn helps to attract the users to stay more longer time on your application

Old website

Animations in the old website are too huge and it causing long loading time of  the website pages

New website

* uses animation to hilight the hidden menus and options on the web pages

* Maintain moderatre graphics animationsto decrease loading time   

3. Good color scheme

Old website

* Multiple and contrast colour variations

* In appropriate highlighting using colour boxes

New Website

* Using a fixed theme colours which are appropriate to theme of the website

* Removing not usefull colour boxes

4 . Clean layout

Old website

* Too many sliding banners

* Irregular placements of primary and secondary menu

* No call to Action Buttons

New Website

* Placing only 1 header banner slider

* placing primary menu just above the header banner and secondery menu at the bottome of front screen

* Placing call to action button for Ordering , Contact and query pages

5. image background

Old website

* Unclear interface image background

* Image background colour matching the text colour

new website

* A clear image background is replaced that has opposite colour orientation with respect to text colour
