1. If I were in Rob Leonard’s position, I would like to take up the VO’s request and take this presentation as a challenge and go with it. it will not be a good idea to tell Mr. Lorigan that I am not ready or willing to give the speech, as he has asked me to do that as I am his alternative option (or the last resort) and he is relying on my acceptance. If I perform in such a scenario, I would be able to progress better in career, and this will be beneficial for the company.
2. Before giving the speech I would like to get to know about the audience’s social status, i.e. their income groups, community ties, age groups, population density, etc.
I can get this information from either the woman who is scheduled to introduce me for the speech, or from the package details handed over to me by the VP. I can also seek for any colleague or other acquaintances staying or having information about that area. Lastly, I would call MR. Gidlay for the information, and also a copy of his speech, or pointers on that.
3. To ensure that I am fully prepared for the speech I would like to know the program’s complete schedule, the dress code (is it a formal or informal gathering) and the names and designations of the important people attending the meeting, so as to address them when and rightly as required.
4. regarding the physical layout of the meeting, I would like to know beforehand, if the meeting area is an open or a closed area, how many people can be accommodated on the venue, and how many people are scheduled to attend, and lastly what are all the facilities like mike, projector, etc. that will be available for the presentation.
