Reflective Case study - CSA ( Child Sexual Abuse):

Introduction:

India, also called as Republic of India which is in South Asia. It is the 7th largest country in the world in terms of surface area and it has a population of 1.2 billion, which is the second largest in the world.

The country has its own unique quality of internal diversity compared to all the other countries in the world. It has totally 23 official languages and 1652 dialects, and has more than 5 religions followed. In the 1.2 billion , there are 52 percent of males and 48 percent of female.

Initially India had a huge crisis of Female Infanticide where the new born child is been killed if it is a female. The government has been taking numerous actions and laws, which made substantial reduction of this problem .But the never ending problem in India is the Child marriage. Despite of having all these, India is always facing the most horrible cases of Child Sexual Abuse.

Discussion of the Hazard and the effects:

CSA ( Child Sexual Abuse) has become a common phenomenon in India both by family and others. It is the term produced by the Keeping child and family safety act. CSA means exploiting children such forcing them for sexual activity, child marriage, child prostitution, lure child in to sexual act for Internet, supply children for sexual imagery etc.

In India, around 44% of the children population are not given basic education, nutrition etc. And it is said that between 18 % to 50 % of child have experienced child abuse. CSA has been reported more for girls and Physical abuse has done for boys. The basic reason is neglecting human rights, poverty, family members .etc.  

Having said that, CSA has heavily influence the child's growth and development both physically and mentally. Many children has the risk of getting mental and emotional disorders such as anxiety, post traumatic stress, interpersonal problem, dysfunctional sexual behavior, suicidality , personality disorder. etc.

Hence Child Line India Foundation has come up with a campaign " CSA Campaign in Schools"

Risk Communication Strategy:

"CSA Campaign in Schools" and "CSA Awareness program"

This campaign is set in Mumbai, India and have addressed around 86 Schools and 50000 children about the awareness for CSA.

For Children, the main problem is about describing the sexual abuse. Most of the children think it as their mistake and never admits to their parents which can lead to many other problems.

Hence this campaign address children with "Open up" program where they tell how to communicate the "touching problems" and how to communicate openly with a trusted adult. One the other hand , they reach parents and teach about the most ignored communicative problems for preventive measures on CSA.

In case of Social media, Child line created animated "Youtube videos" in all the regional languages for addressing a larger span of population with the help of UNICEF.
