The meter stick is in balance condition.

Therefore, moment due to both the force about point B shall be equal.

So -

F1 * 0.40 = F2 * 0.20

=> F1 * 0.40 = 70 * 0.20

=> F1 = (70 * 0.20) / 0.40 = 35 N.

So, magnitude of F1 = 35.0 N
