Two plants in a cross were each heterozygous for two gene
pairs (Ab/aB) whose loci are linked and 25 mu apart. Assuming
that crossing over occurs during the formation of both male
and female gametes and that the A and B alleles are dominant,
determine the phenotypic ratio of their offspring.

The usual dihybrid ratio of 9:3:3:1 is applicable when the genes are not on the same chromosome and hence which are not linked and there will bot be any change in the recombination ratio. Since both are heterozygous for two genes here if unlinked it would have resulted in a 1:1 ratio.

Since the genes are liked by 25 mu here, there will be 25% chance that AB will convert to Ab or aB and ab will be converted to Ab or aB.

The phenotypic ratio will be of 6.75 : 2.25 : 2.25 : 4.5
