Are Mental Health Issues Like Depression Related to Race?

While there is a plethora of research that has examined health disparities in chronic and infectious diseases,less research has examined the relationship between diseases and mental health. Depression in particular, can be a huge risk factor for illness and disease. Studies suggest that blacks are more depressed than whites, given their increased exposure to race-related and generic stress (George & Lynch, 2003; Brown, 2003, p. 293). Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Why? Are depressed moods and race related? State at least two studies that refute the statement. Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning.

Yes, it is recetly illusted by mental health researchers that depression is inherited and genetical.

I agree, there is a plethora of research that has examined health disparities in chronic and infectious diseases,less research has examined the relationship between diseases and mental health. Depression in particular, can be a huge risk factor for illness and disease. Studies suggest that blacks are more depressed than whites, given their increased exposure to race-related and generic stress. Depression is mainly occurring in the teenage due to isolation from the parents or due to separation from any social attractions such as love, affection etc. In case if a kid or child is refusing to go to school and also unable to talk to other and also if you observe any sorts of swinging in the mood either by elevation or depletion, immediately we must notice and report it to the concerned department authorities. Later the student must be taken to the hospital for further depression analysis and to know the level of depression.

In bipolar disorder-I, the patient suffer from mood swings between hyper- and hypo- activity, we observe episodes of mania characterized by euphoria, restlessness, and distraction. During manic episodes people have extreme energy levels; they do not look tired at all despite of their hyper activity. They feel like they are some supernormal person, they hear some voices and see visions etc (these are known as positive symptoms). Usually a manic episode is followed by severe depression. Bipolar depression is disorder which is due to the serotonin neurotransmitter reuptake in the presynaptic neurons and this depression produces further mood alterations characterized by mania and schizophrenia. Acute stress disorder is due to the post traumatic stress in the woman with infant that means as soon as postnatal birth, woman usually experience postpartum depressive episodes. Dysthymia is a depressive disorder characterized by chronic depression in which sufferers will become complaining and it is predominantly occurs in teenage period and result in whinny nature.

Mental health disorders include a lot of “dependence” “and “relocation”. In case of schozppherinia or mania the symptoms are persisting. Unipolar or bipolar depression sometimes leading to abnormal symptoms which are recurrently appears and difficult to treat and it consumes a lot of premium.

Effect of joblessness on mental health:

1. Joblessness has a lot of social impact on one’s daily life since it increases stress associated anxiety in the person finally leading to severe psychological & psychodynamic disturbances in the mental health of the person.

2. Joblessness leads to hungry and further leads to anti-social activities finally result in crime associated with disturbed mental health.

3. Depression: People will depress sometimes if they don’t have job to work and unable to meet daily needs. This may leads to bipolar depression associated with psychosis.

Psychological effects of violent video games and movies:

1. People can be affected or influenced indirectly by choosing or by imagining their characters in the concerned video game or movie further they will try to imitate the same type of role or activity in their daily life result in abnormal activities associated with crimes and killings associated with brutality.

2. Thereby these violent video games and movies has greater impact on the public and in their daily social life. Violence usually brings violent psychological thoughts in the brain and thereby change their mood levels due to change in the equilibrium levels of neurotransmitters. These events leads to people become psychic and maniac associated with severe anxiety.

3. A few people may develop low or high blood pressure associated changes in the heart rate some time leads to death also.

Schizophrenia does not include the depressive phase, it is a group of positive symptoms which include hallucinations, delusions, abnormal speech with no relevant meaning, But, schizophrenia often includes some negative symptoms like loss of interest to interact with others, becoming less talkative and not doing any regular activities, which they enjoyed in their previous lives.

Anorexia: It is defined as a symptom predominantly due to suppression of appetite may be due to pathological condition or psychological impact such as depression and psychosis.

Abdominal dysfunction: It is defined as condition due to accumulation of substances such as gas or liquid in the abdominal region thereby distention (expansion) of the abdomen. This condition is due to the pathological condition or abnormal body activity by in taking of either medicines or allergic products.
