Answer #1

PERCENT YIELD :- It is defined as percent ratio of experimental yield to the theoretical yield.

It is represented by the formula = (Experimental yield/theoretical yield)*100

where

Experimental yield :- It is amount of the product obtained via experiment done.

Theoretical yield :- It is amount of product obtained via the calculation of the balanced equation.

The value of PERCENT YIELD might not be 100% due the following reasons

  • Side reaction take place during the reaction.
  • Reaction is not complete at the exact time.
  • Error done during the experimentation like 1) Error in weighing of the substrate and reagent.   2) Not maintaining the reaction condition properly. 3) Loss of product during workup of the reaction.
