an adult makes decisions with the help of prefrontal cortex which helps in rational thinking. As brain is not fully developed in an adolescent the decisions are made with the emotional part of brain the amygdala. This is the reason for the time gap among teenagers.

Adolescent egocentrism is the inability of teenagers to distinguish between the perception of what others think about them and what others think in reality.

the reason for the same is that the thinking process in adolescents are initiated from amygdala the emotional part of brain. This part fails to distinguish between the two that result in adolescent egocentrism
