Robots in simple langauge are complex machines which can be instructed with help of different commands using a computer.They follow those instructions.

Robots may or may not look like humans; it all depends upon the requirement of the job although in general they look and perform tasks like humans,aesthetics varies depending upon task such industrial robots may or may not look like the human.
