Explain the benefits of extemporaneous delivery compared to manuscripted delivery.
Extemporaneous delivery refers to a carefully planned speech which is delivered in a conversational manner. Brief notes can be used. The advantage of this is that by assessing the audiences' reactions the individual can restate the concept he/she thinks the audience has not grasped. The benefits are that since the speaker is engaging both verbally and non verbally the audience will pay more attention to the message. The speaker is also found to be credible and knowledgeable. They maintain eye contact with the audience and try understanding how well the concepts are being understood.
In comparison, manuscript delivery is the word to word delivery of a message. This type of speech is uninteresting for the audience as it is not all all engaging. The speaker is directly reading out from the paper. It also allows for zero eye contact as the speaker is glued to the paper from which they are reading.
