Answer #1

Chemical treatment is an appropriate method for controlling bacterial growth for soaking medical equipment, for adding to drinking water and for spraying on organs for organ donation.

For soaking medical equipment: Chemical agents are used as antiseptics which apply to tissue or fluids to prevent the infection by killing or inhibiting pathogenic growth. Ex. 1: Ethyl alcohol which denaturants the protien and shows the antimicrobial activity. Ex. 2: Phenol is used as an antiseptic agent. It damage microbial cells by affecting the normal selective permiability of cell membrane and denature/inactivate enzymes.

For adding to drinking water: Sanitizers reduce or eliminate the microbials and makes water "safe" for its use. Ex: bleaching powder used to kill bateria in water and makes it for drinking.

For spraying on organs for organ donation (to be used as Sterilant): Sterlization is the phenomenon in which destroying microbials from an object or a specimen. [Note: Sterilant is a chemical agent that accomplishes sterlization] Ex: Ethylene oxide and Formaldehyde used as steriliants for sparying on organs during organ donation. Formaldehyde (40% formaline) is widely used in prserving the dead animals (ex: frogg) in zoology laboratories for research purpose.

Hence, Answer is D: all of the answer choices above are appropriate.
