Bus network topology may be extended using barrel connectot, but repeaters are the better option. Because

a) Repeaters provide better signal transmission.

b) Repeaters do more than amplify the signal, they also regenerate it. Thus, eliminating much of the noise or irregularities that the signal may have picked up.

c) Bus topology has strict cable length limits, depending on the type of communications protocol used. Repeaters provide better signal transmission, with the possibility even of increasing a Profibus DP network scale completely, by using the maximum capacity of the bus devices. Up to 126 devices can be connected.
