Answer #1

Infrared light is enery. Its range 4000 cm-1 to 625 cm-1. Sample interacts with IR radiation brings about change in vibrational - rotational energy levels. It is called rotational - vibrational spectra.

Wave numbers stretching and bending frequencies of functional groups.

1700 cm-1 carbonyl stretch, 1600 cm-1 C=C stretch, 2200 cm-1 cyano stretch or carbon carbon triple bond stretch.

4. IR spectroscopy plays important role to identify functional groups.

5. C(Sp3)-H stretch 2900 cm-1, C(Sp2)-H stretch 3100 cm-1, C(Sp) stretch 3300 cm-1.

3500 to 3000 cm-1 OH stretch of alcohol ro carboxylic acid.

1600 cm-1 C=C stretch, 1750 cm-1 carbonyl stretch of carboxylic acid, 1740 cm-1 is the carbonyl stretch of aldehyde, 1680 cm-1 is the carbonyl stretch of ketone.
