However, after 15 minutes we were both very tense because the conversation had not advanced at all. Eventually I said that I was sorry that my counterpart had so much to do and asked for another meeting next Tuesday. Instantly the government representative was relaxed again and happily confirmed the new meeting. Now he could finally concentrate on the preparation and organization of his big family meeting that weekend, which is typical for large Kenyan families.

1. Collectivism of Hofstede dimension:

Collectivism is the dimension which frames national culture by tightly knitting the individuals of the society. It can be on the bases of loyalty, ties, community culture, relationships etc. These group supports each other which loyalty and also when the conflict arises with another group.

Kenya is collectivism not individualism for long term because of the following reasons as per the case found out are as follows:

1. Strong relationship with the counterparts although government official was busy.
2. Apologies for the interruptions of the telephone calls every time.
3. Happy for the next meeting.
4. Large family the government official has so he was busy in preparation and meeting for them.
5. Use local language.

2. Kenya is short term collectivism whereas UAE is long term collectivism because of the following reasons:

1. Short term collectivism focuses on the past and present relationship as Kenya do whereas long term collectivism focuses on long term future aspects of the collectivism as UAE does.

2. As per the case, Kenya focuses on the present relationship or making the existing relationships whereas the UAE was little bit future oriented as focuses on the work also.

3. Extension of relationships focuses on the long term collectivism which can be done by meeting with new peoples of same business and making the business deals finalization (UAE) whereas existing or interruption during the new relationship ship would make it short term collectivism (Kenya).
