Case Summary- COVID-19 has been the most strange disease that has ever spread around the world. It has been declared as 'pandemic' since it is getting transmitted across the international boundaries. Moreover, there has not been any clear explanation about the origin of this disease, all we have is a list of infinite conspiracies. There is no any chance visible to get rid of this disease any sooner. Every country is trying to handle this pandemic situation in the best way possible by taking any kind of measures they can think of, but yet it has proved to be quite ineffective to control this disease. The count of infected individuals all round the world is increasing with the speed of light. Moreover, it is getting transmitted form one person to the other at a very high speed since it is highly communicable.

1.Let's just try to understand how such a pandemic situation can be managed in future as per the disaster management cycle.

Disaster Management Cycle- It consists a series of steps or stages that are to be followed as a whole in order to reduce or eliminate the risk of disaster in a way getting prepared for such times. This does not mean that it will just eliminate the disaster, but it promises to sustain life or save lives during the cycle and control the extent of such disaster.

Following are the stages in the disaster management cycle-

Prevention and Mitigation

This is the initial stage of disaster management cycle in which the preventive steps are taken in order to reduce the risk or to minimize the effects of the disaster. For e.g. In this situation of COVID-19, countries are practicing social distancing and even complete lock-downs are also being implemented all around the nations. Based on the extent of virus transmission amongst the public, regions are being categorized into separate zones limiting the operations as per the severity of the pandemic.

Preparedness

This is the next stage where it is planned so as to how to respond to any disaster. There can be emergency trainings and emergency drills so as to fight back against such disaster. A coordinated approach must be planned to get operation ready at any times during the situation or under disaster conditions. There can be alerts or warnings stating the consequences of disaster and also providing guidelines to fight it back.

Responses

A number of strategies are being developed and implemented to develop a response for the situation. Various efforts are taken into consideration and are performed in order to minimize the hazards created by any disaster. In current situation of this pandemic, countries are halting the airlines, railways, public and private transport. They are avoiding every kind of public meet- ups and any type of social gatherings. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits are being used worldwide. Several measures are into consideration as responses for this pandemic.

Recovery

This is the last stage of disaster management cycle in which we can say the disaster has come to an end. The situation has become normal as before. we can continue the operations as they were running before. The situation is finally restored back completely to what it was earlier.

This was all about the disaster management cycle during any disaster.

2. As per the present conditions all around the globe, one can not comment that this situation is getting clear any soon. Since, it is having very high chances of transmission, it has almost become near to impossible to get rid of this disease completely. Some reports even claim that this is not going to end completely before the year 2022. So, as the future of this disease, one can also be preventive to avoid getting infected. There would be limitations on every kind of activities that are human centric including mass gatherings. The working model of the organizations is going to change soon. Moreover, if by any means, the effect of this pandemic comes to an end, then there would be political war of the countries against China. The virus will end with a serious political war amongst the countries.
