Answer #1

This is a binomial distribution question with

n = 542

p = 0.05

q = 1 - p = 0.95

This binomial distribution can be approximated as Normal distribution since

np > 5 and nq > 5

Since we know that

Both are more than 5 so we can use the approximation

x = 29.5

from continuity correction

P(x < 29.5)=?

The z-score at x = 29.5 is,

z = 0.473

This implies that

P(x < 29.5) = P(z < 0.473) = {0.6819}
