Explain the merits of the “engineering design approach”, and the risks associated with not following such a methodology.
The engineering design process is a series of steps that engineers follow to come up with a solution to the problem. Many times the solution involves designing a product (like a machine or a computer code) that meets certain criteria and/or accomplishes a certain task. This process is different from the steps of scientific method, which you may be more familiar with. If your project involves making observations and doing experiments, you should probably follow scientific method. If your project involves designing, building and testing something, you should probably follow the engineering design process.

Engineering economy involves the systematic evaluation of the economic merits of proposed solution to engineering problems. The first two principles of engineering economy are to develop the alternative and focus on the differences. Explain the significance of these two principles?
Differentiate between incremental and breakthrough innovation and assess the risks associated with each approach.
The focus of this assignment is on three different approaches to work design: The Engineering Approach The Motivational Approach The Sociotechnical Approach ***Choose one of the three approaches to analyze*** Include: A) Overview/focus areas for this approach B) Types of jobs/companies that would benefit from this design C) Examples of jobs/companies currently using this design D) How would you integrate this design in an organization?
Boingo Construction Toys Corp. is using a costs-of-quality approach to evaluate design engineering efforts for a new toy robot. The company's senior managers expect the engineering work to reduce appraisal, internal failure, and external failure activities. The predicted reductions in activities over the two-year life of the toy robot follow. Also shown are the cost allocation rates for the activities. (Click on the icon to view the information.) Data Table Х - Read the requirements Predicted Activity Cost Reduction in...

Your boss decides that prototyping is the best approach on a design project. Describe to her the weaknesses and hazards associated with prototyping. Explain what you can do to minimize the risk of experiencing the hazards associated with prototyping
1. There are many definitions of engineering design. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) defines engineering design as: "Engineering design is the process of devising a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. It is a decision-making process (often iterative), in which the basic sciences, mathematics, and the engineering sciences are applied to convert resources optimally to meet these stated needs...". Identify three important words or phrase from the above definition and for each of them explain...
