The Engineering approach

Overview-

• Is a management approach used by companies for risks evaluation and control.

• It involves employing a professional engineer.

• The approach helps improve collaboration.

• It costly.

The approach leads to improved efficiency by it enhancing collaboration between various departments since they will require to work together and give the right information to the engineer who will then use it to supervise the organization and give detailed report. Also, the system is costly to the firm because it has to high a professional engineer from outside and pay for the services

Type of jobs and companies that benefit

• Engineers

• Insurance

The Engineering Approach is applied by insurance companies and it involves engineers. In this case the insurance companies usually hire professional engineers who will then be sent to organizations applying for the insurances services who then have to inspect the property being insured and give an evaluation report. The evaluation report will be used as basis for recommendation and the price of the premium. Also, organizations that use insurances services benefit from the approach.

• Organizations such as Toyota

• Engineering

Insurance companies apply this system in their daily business and they include; State Farm Mutual Insurance, MetLife and Prudential Financial. The other organizations that use insurance services include; Toyota Corporation . Engineering jobs and more specific civil engineering use this approach also for their daily operations.

Ways of integration

• Creation of an urgency for change within the company

• Through consultative and participative management system.

• Training and development

An urgency for change will be created within the organization so that the employees and the top leadership will have to require the usage of this approach.

When introducing such an approach in the organization, the internal change agent will have to consult with the employees and the top leadership and get their views and opinions and how it will affect the current work design used. After the acceptance for the change, the members will be trained on how the approach will be used within the organization.
