I want to give you a brief introduction to make things very easy for you. This letter was written by Martin luther king jr in 1963. In this letter he has raised very serious apprehension about the racial discrimination in America. He tried to remind those who are at the helm of power that they should not forget the history. Histors shows nmerous examples in which People used all the means at their disposal when denied justice. In any case if the Black Americans are denied justice they will certainly fight for that.

If we try to understand the statement in this perspective, Extremism here means being on our toes for good things. He has raised a very pertinent question about the society we want. Here extremism means being completely against the ills of the society. The ills which manifests itself in the from of hate and denial of justice should be done away with. How can a country prosper if there is hate and denial of justice against a large section of population. King jr by using the term "etremism" calls for the sudden end of all the hate, oppressions and subjugation of blacks.
