Adhesion :
Adhesion is the mechanism by which it facilitates the force
required to pull water from the roots by capillary action. How does
this takes place, water molecules adhere to the cell wall of plants
and work against the gravitational force to pull water upper part
of the tube in the xylem. Through this, water reaches till
leaves.
Cohesion:
In the process of cohesion the mechanism by which water makes its
way through the plants happens by water molecules staying close to
each other and cumulative action of hydrogen bonds between water
molecules.
Cohesion is a property or mechanism where plant draws the water
upwards from root with the help of stem's transport system till the
leaf.
Evaporation :
This cohesion process is supported by the tension created in water
molecules due to the process of evaporation.
Surface tension :
This is also a very important property of water. Water has high amount of surface tension property which helps to hold the surface against a external force to create a capillary action.
