Answer #1

Doppler -broadening of spectral lines is due to the random thermal motions of atoms. For any absorption or emission spectrum, Doppler effect will contributes the broadening of spectral lines. Such broadening is given as

= line width and  0 = wavelength = 800 nm

k = boltzmann constant = 1.33 x 10-23 ,

m0 = atomic weight of hydrogen = 1.66 x 10-27

and C= speed of light = 3 x 108

substitute the values in equation and the

= 0.0117 nm
