Freud's contribution to psychology is on the theory of Psychoanalysis which emphasizes the role of ego in the development of an individual's personality. While Erickson emphasize the analysis of personality development into eight stages. For Piaget, the theory of child development is built on cognitive development in relation to the environment. Freud saw the relation between the Id, Ego, and superego as a major factor in shaping the individual. One important part of his analysis is the repressed desired or repressed ego. For Erickson, trust, and mistrust in the intimate way of growing up between the child and the caregiver which in turn influence the personality. Piaget's main focus was defining the stages and the successive development of the formal reasoning of the child.
