Suppose I am conducting a study about types of shoes you can put on dogs. I have identified 3 different types of shoes to test on my dog Enzo. If I wanted to present information about the brand of each of the types of shoes, the size of each shoe, and the color of each of the shoes, should I use a table or a graph? why?

Answer #1

Here we have the following information:

  • Different type of shoes
  • Brand of each shoe
  • Size of each shoe
  • Color of each shoe

Here since we want to include multiple pieces of information for the same data point(shoe) and we want to present the raw data, therefore using a table will be more appropriate. Presenting the said information in a graph will be confusing.
