Can you please help solve and explain this...Thanks

The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) is a commonly used test for diagnosing memory impairment in adults. This test is sometimes used in clinical settings as a part of the process for diagnosing dementia. A person’s cognitive status is determined by comparing his or her raw score with the descriptive statistics of a norm group of test takers of similar ages and educational levels.

  1. Imagine that you had administered the MMSE to five individuals. The age, educational level, and raw score of each individual is listed below.
  2. Use the Normative Data (shown below) on the MMSE to determine if each individual scored lower than, the same as, or higher than the norm group.
  3. To do this compare each individual’s raw score with the average score of individuals who are the same age and have similar educational levels.

Write a paragraph describing the implications of using these different norms, paying particular attention to how the specific norm group used to interpret an individual's score affects that interpretation. Upload to the Submissions box (found below).

The test scores when compared to the norm are missed by narrow margins. What these margins mean and how these scores were factored as the norm is to be investigated. Any other underlying risks associated with the individual's condition should also be taken into account. But, when only age is the factor - along with their educational qualification - comparisons of the results lead us to think that the subject is either at risk, at no immediate risk or at no risk of developing dementia.
