Answer #1

stress test:

  1. it is used to determine the stability of a given system .
  2. it is also used to determine breaking points and also to confirm mathematical model is accurate or not in breaking points
  3. engineers mostly test items under expected stress in order to determine the operating life of the item or to determine the modes of failure.

crash tests:

  1. the name itself describes that it is the test of destructive testing usually performed in order to ensure safe design standards in crash compatibility.
  2. it is used mostly on the electrical cars made .
  3. engineers use this test for crashing the car to a solid concrete wall at a specified speed, mostly these tests are done in U.S.A .

eddy current tests(ECT):

  1. this test is commonly seen in one of many electromagnetic testing methods used in nondestructive testing making use of electromagnetic induction to detect and characterize surface and sub-surface flaws.
  2. since ECT is electrical in nature , it is a conductive material and the two major applications of eddy current testing are surface inspection and tubing inspections where these are mainly used in aerospace industries and also in petrochemical industry.

ultrasonic tests:

  1. this testing is mainly based upon the ultrasonic waves in object or material tested.
  2. this is performed mainly on steel and other metals and alloys, though it can also be used on concrete, wood and composites .
  3. engineers mainly use in steel industries, metallurgy, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive sectors.

liquid penetration tests:

  1. it is used to apply on low cost inspection methods used to check surface breaking defects in non -porous materials .
  2. it is also called as liquid penetrate inspection(LPI).
  3. engineers conduct these tests on rough surfaces, such as welded weds ,as it removes any excessive penetrant and could result in false indications.
