Palmitoyl CoA is a 16 carbon compound then complete oxidation of this fatty acid will generate 8 acetyl CoA +7 NADH and 7 FADH2. The addition of b-Bromo octanoate irreversibly inhibits the mitochondrial enzyme thiolase. Therefore the formation of Acetyl CoA will be hampered and the ATP generation through the TCA cycle will also be stopped. As the 1st and 3rd step of the reaction occurs in an uninterrupted manner so 1FADH2 and NADH will be produced from one cycle. The number of high energy phosphate bonds generated will be 2.
