Why do you think that Delphi reduces bias? In other words, why is it that the participants are less likely to be influenced by others?
The Delphi technique requires a panel to submit the answer to
the questions that are asked and they have the ability to adjust
their answers in the subsequent phase. We can say that Delphi
method reduces bias due to its inherent conditions where it
requires a neutral facilitator to conduct a process of anonymous
surveys as well the fact that face-to-face interaction is minimized
because of the presence of large sample size can be considered as
the reason Delphi minimizes the risks associated with bias. The
best results when we consider Delphi is achieved due to the
anonymity of the groups but there is a chance that a dominant group
ends up influencing the decisions of the final collective processes
which can be minimized through better selection of the panels as
well as better oversight.
